From March 1st Trains to Belgrade on Every Hour

Departure of trains between Pancevo and Belgrade could become more frequent, with departures on every hour, stated town council member for traffic Miladin Sakic. Part of the railways from Pancevo Bridge to Dunav Station should be completed by the end of the month, which should help improve frequency of trains from Belgrade to Pancevo.

 

Town Planning for Old Downtown Area

Planning for old downtown area of Pancevo is completed. After the finalising of public procurement process, Directorate for Building in Pancevo plans to finish planning for all installations for the downtown area of Pancevo. The Directorate is ambitious with a wish to provide larger dimension for planning of how thia part of town should look like, stated deputy director of Directorate for building Jovan Stankovic.

 

Working Hours for Caffees in Belgrade

Belgrade Town Assembly adopted the decision on shortening the working hours for premises hosting people, which are based in residential buildings. Their working hours should be until midnight, and 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The caffee owners should turn off music at 23.00 and on Fridays and Saturdays at midnight. This decision also establishes that selling of alcohol is forbidden from 22.00 until 6.00 in stores, newsstands and petrol stations.

 

Basketball: Tamis team from Pancevo against Sloboda from Uzice

Basketball players of Tamis will meet tonight with Sloboda tean from Uzice. The game starts at 18.00 at Sports Hall in Streliste. Basketball players have previously beaten the team of Novi Sad in the 19th round of Serbian League. One of the best players was playmaker Branko Jereminov, who scored 25 points for the team. Tamis coach Bojan Jovcic said he expected the same quality of game in tonight's game.

Serbian Independent Police Union on Strike

Independent Police Union begins to strike today, demanding  increase of pays  for  40 percent and improvement of working conditions. The union invited sports groups and clubs to postpone sports events, since policemen should not protect them. 13 000 police officers should participate in the strike, stated union president Velimir Barbulov. Police administration staff is should on strike and identification cards will be issued only in emergency cases. Police Union of Serbia does not support the strike and they are waiting for government opinion on the so – called collective agreement proposal.

 

Election of Director for Agency for Economic Development Continues

Committee for election of Director for Agency for Economic Development will have interviews with 12 short- listed candidates. After that it is expected that it would be announced who the director is. Agency should soon start to work in offices in Vojvode Petra Bojovica Str, stated Deputy Mayor  Filip Mitrovic.

 

Farmers Discuss Government Measures

Representatives of Farmer’s Unions from Pancevo joined in Farmer’s Association will have meeting tonight to discuss their position on Government measures in the field of agriculture. They strongly object the increase of export taxes on wheat. The tax should make the market od wheat stable, but it would cause the lowering of wheat prices for farmers, states Association Vice President Zoran Sefkerinac. The farmers are ready to protest.

 

Town Library: Annual Librarioans Meeting in Pancevo

Town library in Pancevo will host Annual Meeting of Librarians of Serbia today, organized by National Library of Serbia and Pancevo library. The meeting will include adoption of annual reports and documents and programme for next year. Representatives of Ministry of culture will also be present, as well as 30 directors of libraries across Serbia.

Orange Block Demands Cancellation of Taxes

Town administration in Pancevo should do the same as town administration in Belgrade, which canceled three taxes since January 1st. Taxes on music programme, company name out of company’s headquarters and taxes on using free space should also be canceled in Pancevo, Orange Party Block demands. We have appealed to town administration to cancel or cut down taxes for small enterprises and entrepreneurs, stated vice president of Orange Block Srdjan Stankovic.

 

Law on Restitution in First Half of 2011

Vice president of Serbian Government Bozidar Djelic stated today that the Law on Restitution should be adopted in the first half of the year. He stated that there is a need to provide compensation for citizens, who have been deprived of their own property, and that this also should not jeopardize the future of Serbia. We should do the measure of restitution in relation to Serbia, and that measure is modest, Stated Djelic.

 

Chinese New Year Tonight

Over 1.3 billion Chinese in National republic of China, Taiwan, Malaysia and other Asian countries are celebrating Chinese New Year, also known as Celebration of Spring in China. According to the Chinese horoscope, the next year will be the year of the rabbit. According to traditional stories, New Year is celebrated for more than 4 000 years and this is the most important celebration in Eastern civilization, like Christmas in the West.

 

Exhibition Culture, Architecture Design Tonight

In the Gallery of Contemporary Art from 19.0o exhibition Art, Architecture, Design should be open. The exhibition is by Croatian artists Nina Kurtela ana Josip Kaniza. They should display their works, photo documentation and installations.

Teachers and Professors Continue to Strike

Representatives of education unions announced continuing of strike, which had started on Friday 28 January. Some schools have shortened their classes, some held no classes and others continued to work normally. The data on the number of schools on strike from the Ministry of Education and representative unions are different. 11 schools in Pancevo have shortened their classes, while in 17 schools there are no classes. The unions demand increase of 24, 5% until the end of year, which means 20 billion Serbian dinars more from the budget. The Government has still not invited striking committees to negotiate.

 

Agency for Privatisation Names Finance Representative for Seme Tamis Company

Agency for Privatisation named Goran Kapisoda as the finance representative in Tamis Seme Company. The Markovic family wanted to buy the company, but now the contract for buying is terminated. The company is left with no production and huge debts. The Union of the company demands restructuring in order to recover the company. At the end of last year, Mr Kapisoda replaced one of the members of Markovic family as the director of Vojvodina Enterprise, another company that Markovic family owned.

 

 

Citizens of Vojvodina Province Deserve Better

Socialist Democratic League of Vojvodina has started action throughout Vojvodina province. The aim of action is to emphasize the importance of the Law on Province Property as well as competences of the province regarding the property of local self- governments. LSV will submit the request to National Assembly of Serbia to discuss and adopt these two law proposals during spring session

 

Blood Types O- and A- Missing

Transfusion Service has not enough blood of O- and A – types. The citizens who wish should help with blood donation to Transfusion service. This is possible every working day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

 

Competition for Post Graduate Studies in Great Britain Opened until 1 March

Competition for professional training on post graduate studies in Great Britain, organised by town administration and British Council, is opened until 1 March. Unlike last year, when students enrolled for training in the field of environment and sustainable development, this year they should improve in the area of business and economy and improvement of local self- government.

Strike in Pancevo Schools

Teachers and professors around Serbia are continuing their strike. In some schools in Pancevo classes are shortened to 30 minutes, while in most schools there are no classes at all. Two thirds of all schools in Serbia are on strike. Unions are expecting to be joined by other educational institutions until the Government increases payments for 24 percent. The Government states that the increase of pays for education staff might break down the system of public finances.

 

Collecting of Glass Waste in Pancevo Area

Action Glass Week starts today. Glass packaging and other glass waste, bottles or jars will be collected. The action is organized by Public Enterprise Hygiene, which will transfer glass with special van for further recycling. The glass will be collected every day in different part of town. The glass waste should be left beside garbage containers.

 

Gazprom Neft Announces Bid for NIS Shares

Russian company Gazprom Neft announced the bid to buy free float shares in NIS (Oil Industry of Serbia) from stock holders. Shares with voting rights (19.12 per cent of the equity) currently held by Serbian citizens, may become available for purchase. The price is 4.8 Euro per share, which means not less than 506.48 Serbian dinars. The bid begins on January 31st and will last until March 16th at noon.

 

Irish Citizen to Remain in Custody

The former president of Managing Committee in the privatization process of Farming Enterprise Omoljica, Irish citizen Lesley E. T. organised the transfer of 150 acre land onto his brother Gordon W. T. He was accused for 350 000 Euro of damage to the Privatisation Agency in Serbia. The judge of Higher Court in Pancevo, after the questioning, ruled that he should remain in prison in order not to escape from the country.

Schools in Pancevo on Strike
There are no classes in18 primary and secondary schools in Pancevo, while in 10 classes are shortened on 30 minutes, stated President of the Association of Professors and Teachers in Pancevo Slobodanka Cvetkovic. Director of Miroslav Antic Primary School Dragana Krstic stated that there have been no education or work inspections in school this morning, but that they should come during the day since Education Minister Zarko Obradovic ordered directors to discharge all those teachers, who shorten their classes.

 

Collecting of Glass Organized in Pancevo

From Monday 31 January, organized collecting of glass should begin, and glass, bottles, jars and glasses will be collected. The action is organized by Public Enterprise Hygiene, which will transfer glass with special van for further recycling. The Glass Week should last until February 4th. The workers begin their work on Monday, collecting glass downtown and in Sodara area.

 

Criticism on B.J. Verdict

Lawyers Committee for Human Rights (YUCOM), Regional Minority Center, Women in Black and organization Civil Rights Defenders have criticized the verdict for minor of Roma nationality B.J. from Jabuka Village, who is convicted to four years of prison for killing another minor. In their statement, these organisations are surprised because of the sudden change of opinion of Higher Court Public Prosecutor Gordana Colic to ask for prison punishment for B.J. instead of sending him to correctional facility. The fact questions objectivity of the trial, it is stated.

 

Commercial Development of Villages

G17 party and United Regions of Serbia in the coming period will focus on commercial development of villages. This should help revive the production of Milk Factory, stated representative of this party and United Regions for South Banat Sasa Pavloc on press conference.

Play Metamorphoses in Cultural Centre

Metamorphoses by Ovid will be performed by Yugoslav Drama Theatre tonight at 19.30 in Cultural Centre. The play is directed by Aleksandar Popovski and main characters are portrayed by actors Nebojsa Glogovac, Tamara Vucković, Nikola Djuricko, Goran Susljik.

Today is Saint Sava’s Day

Serbian Orthodox Church as well as many schools in Serbia celebrate St Sava Day today. St Sava reformed the state, education and worked on improving the overall state of Serbian people. He was born in 1169 as the youngest son of Duke Stefan Nemanja. He was born as Rastko Nemanjic, and when he joined the church he took the name of Sava. The traditional concert in his honour will be held at 18.00 at Cultural Centre in Pancevo. Dimitrije Stefanovic from Academy of Arts and Sciences will give speech.

 

Schools in Pancevo Celebrate St Sava Day

In most of primary and secondary schools in Pancevo, St Sava day is celebrated today. The celebration cake is cut and childern attend honorary concerts in their schools. One class is dedicated to work and life of this great Serbian reformer.

 

Irish Citizen Taken In for Questioning

Police Department in Pancevo has arrested Leslie E. T. (1975), Irish citizen who will remain in custody for 48 hours. 18 Years Since Death of Srdjan Aleksic

18 years since the death of Srdjan Aleksic has passed. He was murdered while trying to help save his Bosniack friend Alen Glavovic from Trebinje. Memers of GAP (Citizen Intiative in Pancevo) organised laying flowers as the act of remeberance.

 

Remembering Victims of Holocaust

Remembering the victims of holocaust, President of Town Assembly Tigran Kis with members of Jewish Community laid flowers in Stratiste Memorial Centre today. President of Jewish Community in Pancevo David Montijas said that the number of Jews killed in Second World War is sufficient reason never to forget the victims.
